Incineration
Although incineration or thermal oxidation can destroy many unwanted pollutants, the byproducts formed can still be considered hazardous and require additional air pollution control. Solid and liquid waste incineration can produce acid gases such as hydrogen chloride and salts/oxides of heavy metals such as antimony, beryllium, cadmium and nickel. Catalytic and regenerative thermal oxidizers produce both hydrogen chloride and other halogen acid gases when oxidizing certain volatile organic compounds. In addition, the gases leaving the incineration process can range from 300°F to 2500°F. Verantis has the expertise to provide a complete emission control system from the high-temperature quench to the exhaust stack. In some cases, where only gas scrubbing is required, a high-efficiency packed tower scrubber is
adequate. For applications where particulate removal is also required, fluid-bed scrubbers, venturis, or an Ionizing Wet scrubber (IWS) may be recommended depending on the particulate size and characteristics. In any case, Verantis can provide gas scrubbing efficiencies >99.99% and reduce particulate levels below 0.001 gr/DSCF.
